yesterday, we had quite the excitement at the B house. we went on a 'nature walk'(cheesy, yet one of my very favorite things to do with my kids)-well as I was buckling S into the stroller we heard sirens getting closer and closer. No big deal you say...BUT...they live on a very quiet, very Mayberry kind of street AND ambulance/firetruck had been there just YESTERDAY to their neighborhood for a sick next door neighbor. This was like the first time kids had seen this happen like...EEVER So, it had freaked the kiddos out and rightly so-I'm much older and STILL don't like hearing sirens ANYTIME.
Maybe we should have turned around-I don't know-I never know in these situations-but we saw the fire trucks going into the cul-de-sac where some of our close, close friends live. So we continued walking...let me tell you that everyone was RUNNING out of their houses and down the street to "check." I love how close this neighborhood is! Turns out,it was a small grill fire. The kids were excited to see not 1,not 2 but 3 firetrucks and the firemen were great to give the kiddos stickers, take picture, and just talk to them.
So,when we got back from our "nature walk"(E made a list before we left and was going to record things we saw-FIRE was the only thing on the list-at least I tried)the kids were all wound up and wanted something fun to do. J immediately found PS. S immediately found trouble. E couldn't find anything. So being the brilliant babysitter I am-I suggested her doing a "show" for us and I'd give her a makeover beforehand. This was the magic word.
So she worked and practice...we made her up and then...we saw a couple of dances...this one is near the end when J and S had kind of 'had it' with sitting there and decided that they weren't too cool to take part as well.
I think when I called this a 'bull dancer' kind of dance I meant 'bull fighter?' I don't know-just trying to use my DWTS lingo?
Anyways, after this I was feeling all dancey and hyper and whatnot...so I started teaching them about 'jumping photos.' Now,not sure whether this was a smart bsing decision, but it sure was fun...I especially like this one where J looks like he's cannonballing into the carpet...hey if you can't find a pool...(fear not though-he landed on two feet)
so of course, E had to try...
I HAD to try it...
then...it just turned crazy!!
Now S was having a great time watching all of this-don't you think I let her feel left out at all...eventually though(after about 45 minutes) we had to 'calm' down so she could go to bed but we snuck one last pose...
I tucked her in and all J kept saying was 'you're like a step-mom Mary, you're so fun!' haha. So this particular spontaneous activity was a super-hit! I must admit that it was gobs of fun. My legs are sore, but it was completely worth it.
ps,m and d loooooved the concert and stayed till the very end. I'm so proud!
